My Deep Fin H376
From memory, at the time I bought my H376 new in 1996, both styles of keel were the same price from Hunters.
Having just come from a flat out racing past, I felt that I would always be disappointed in the performance of the shallow keel version. The frontal area of the shallow keel is prodigious and the boat is 450 lbs heavier (Weight of TWO persons!) So I went for the deep fin and, since then, I have grounded many times in unguarded moments because I still push it in the shallows to avoid the tidal currents. No damage or problems though!
I took the attached two photos when I was having the boat coated with "Cuprotect" an epoxy based manganese copper permanent antifouling in 2005.
Before buying I obtained photos of the deep fin (6'6" draft) and was pleased to see the deep fin also has a bulb and a small wing to the rear. Not unlike a dolphin's tail.
Here is the original makers leaflet. P1 & P2 attached herewith. The size of these files is much compressed by this web page so, if too fuzzy to be read, just PM me with your private e-mail ID and I will send them on.
