I disagree. And I quote your link
  1. Parentheses (simplify inside 'em)
  2. Exponents
  3. Multiplication and Division (from left to right)
  4. Addition and Subtraction (from left to right)

Wiki would disagree also
The order of operations used throughout mathematics, science, technology and many computer programming languages is expressed here:[3]
  1. exponents[1] and roots
  2. multiplication[1] and division[1]
  3. addition[1] and subtraction[1]
The mistake is made if this is the assumption you are using for the order of operations, where you add before you multiply. There are no parentheses in the original image,

There was no assumption on my part. These are the rules. Parentheses could/should be used to clarify, but in their absence the order of precedence applies. No exponents, no parens, there multiplication is next.

I read your links and Wiki doesn't disagree with @BlowMeAway .

They referred to FORTRAN language, which was the first "Compiled" mathematical language that was used by NASA to go to the moon. FORTRAN = FORmula TRANslation. The precedent of compilation has always been the same since then. BASIC which is an "interpreted" language followed the precedent.

All current mathematical languages use FORTRAN standards.;)

Using today's calculators [apps] the user must understand the "precedent" or be doomed to just + - and = , use.
The minute YOU don't, you won't get the same answer as the Grocery check out clerk.

1 bunch of banana's at $1.00 [bunch of 5] or $.25 for each banana. 1 bunch ≠ 5*$.25... over simplified.

X+Y*5≠15 , when X=1 and Y=2, but is 11 buy formula translation.

I didn't notice that the clock's dial wasn't on 3 in the last "expression"....So, that would make the answer NOT 26, it would less by the clock symbol being 2, not 3....

Hey SG, the correct answer is 38 as imbedded several times in this thread. Let us know when you work that out. Credit goes to (winner) @Allan12210.
