I am considering buying a Saroca as my first boat and I've found that the hulls have been made of different materials in different manufacturing runs. I have read the explination on their web site(see below), but I would really like some unbiased opinions and advice. I am also looking at Zumas and Flying Scots. I'd like something that I wouldn't quicky grow out of, but isn't hard to handle. Much thanks for any help! ABS/Plastic/Rovel- This was used to manufacture the Saroca in the past. This is no longer being used. The average weight of this boat is 200lbs empty. Composite: We estimate the weight of this boat to come in around 130-140lbs. COmposites offer more impact resistance and light weight versus the fiberglass model. Of course the cost is extremely greater. This is not available at this time. Fiberglass model: This model weighs in around 150-160lbs We manufacture this model using balsa and bi-mat glass to reinforce the hull and deck for durability. The major difference between composite and fiberglass is weight, price, and impact resistance
