The new stainless arches are not compatible with the old glass ones. Making a metal arch fit is a major process only to be done by a highly qualified individual at great expense. You might want to look into a custom metal arch made for your boat. Good luck and full speed ahead1

If the arch on a 3 to 4 year old boat is failing it sounds like a manufacturing or design fault. Are they to weak to endure the loads placed on them. If so,wouldn't Hunter be responsible? Just Currious.

sailing in place

My 2000 h410 has a stainless arch, but also sails about its mooring more than I would like. Have considered a small "anchor riding" sail, but they are usually hanked on the backstay, and I don't have (or want) a backstay. Anyone solved this problem? s/v Breathless 410-250

Are the Stress Cracks ....................

.......... merely cosmetic or do they have structural implications ? After seeing your article, I had a good look at the FG arch on our H310, and so far, touch wood (or fibreglass) no cracking. But on second look, for the stresses applied and the cross sectional area of this member, I feel that the cracking would have to be pretty severe before the structural integrity would be compromised. Hope this helps you sleep better. Regards, s/v Island Hunter
