Fiamma Bi-Pot recommendations

We've decided to just purchase a new portable toilet for our boat instead of fixing our Thetford. One of the guys on the Catalina 25 forum is recommending a Fiamma Bi-Pot as a good toilet, does anyone have any experience with them? From their website I can't figure out if they come with some method of mounting it to the head's deck or not. Do you have to buy a separate mounting kit?

I like the fact that it has a smaller flush tank than it's waste tank. It's never made any sense to me why the flush tank on lots of these is actually larger than the waste, how do they expect that to work, when not only is there already too much available, but each use adds more from outside the system?

You can get the Fiamma with 2.5 gallon waste tank or 5 gallon, which is what I'm leaning towards (once I measure inside the head to make sure there's sufficient headroom for me when sitting on it).

The other one we like is the Sealand 975, any reviews on that would be helpful as well.

Thanks,

David

Never heard of it before, so I did some googling...

And from what I found, it seems to be a British camping toilet that hasn't made its way into the US marine market yet...the only marine store link that came up is in Australia.

However, it appears to be a well designed very sturdy portapotty, available in two sizes, both for a VERY reasonable price--at least from this US camping supply store in Houston. http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/rv-toilets-tanks/fiamma-rv-toilets.htm

So for the price, and since the only "review" you've seen so far is highly positive, I say go for it

You can also get them from JC Whitney, and if you make your total over $99, shipping is free. So add about $7 worth of other stuff and get it for less than if you'd paid shipping.

The other company you mentioned charges about $33 for shipping to my part of the US (PNW).

My only question that remains is the hold down issue, although I'm sure I can fabricate something if I need to.

Would you send me an email once you have it? I have some questions best answered by someone who has it in their hot little hands.

I dunno how much holding DOWN it should need, 'cuz I don't think it's likely to bounce much...so some corner molding to keep it from sliding should be enough.

Peggie,
Will do, I'm getting ready to order it now. My friend who recommended it also gave me a code for an extra 10% off, so it seems like an even better idea.

Peggie,
I've got the new Fiamma Bi-pot in hand if you've got questions. I sent you email about it a couple of days ago, but not sure if you've gotten it.

Let me know what you'd like to know about it.

Re: Got yr email...

Hi -- Is there any additional information available about this unit, particularly based on actual use, or even hearsay? Thanks very much.
