Ferries

Almost an off topic post. This summer we had the pleasure of attending a concert in Washington and came back to the (soon to be) frozen north via Anacortes to Friday Harbor to Sidney, then BC Ferries through Active Pass on the way back to the mainland. For anybody (and there are certainly a few of us) who have marveled at the water in Active Pass, notice how fast the wash from the ferries skids out to the side. It's moving probably faster than the guy in the sailboat would like!

Nice. We visit my f-i-l and sail (on the ferries) thru AP from Twassen. I'm always amazed how their schedules have so many ferries passing each other right in the pass. Awesome.

That brought back some great memories. We chartered out of Anacortes WA about 6 years ago, part of our trials to see if we would enjoy the "cruising lifestyle". I recall entering Friday Harbour as several sea planes were taking off , passed us within 100 yards it seemed. We bought our boat about a year later!

Three ferries together in Active Pass! Ive never seen that before. The WA state ferries throw basically no wake. Amazing! I dont even turn into it....
