Hi fellow sailors! Does any of you had to replace a fellow sailors on your sailboat. I have to change mine on a 336 - 1997 and I heard horror stories. Is there anyone here who could give me some good tips or advise? Thanks

Maybe you could contact my son in that area

for help. He does Santa Claus for the holidays and has contacts around the region.

try to fix before replace

sometimes proper lubrication can quiet those troublesome fellow sailers. Try dispensing approx 12 ounce per hour to the squeekiest. Avoid direct application to the hardened nut that holds tiller. Sometimes you will find a TFS that was designed from the start with no nuts at all, use caution! I had one of these and tried to remove some threads from it on the deck. It seems I was working too fast and caused irrepairable damage. Finally by taking my time and applying a little heat I was able to remove enough threads to get by. Also watch closely for color change in all recently installed TFS. TFS are available in all natural colors and usually have strong color retention. Some TFS will slowly turn yellow when you least expect it during a rough sea. This is almost always followed by a change to green and an increase in noise of the internal machinery of TFS.STAND BACK during debris removal! Green tint will now slowly become red for rest of day.

...very creative. Tell us more about removing the threads from the TFS that had no nuts. Tom

Antoine, what is the meaning of "fellow sailors"? It does not translate into English properly.

the sailor overboard if that part becomes useless, however you must be past the 3 mile limit so not to get fined by the Coast Guard. You can get a new sailor back at the dock.

You must in that case be sure that the clothes

are entirely biodegradable. NO Plastics! You know that long list of stuff you can't deep six within 3, 12 and anywhere miles.
