Gene,
I built our locker on our H20 and installed a overboard drain. I love it! I actually used a large Old Town Kayak double latching kayak hatch that seals tight for the lid. Built the locker from ply, 6 ounce fiberglass fabric, and west systems epoxy.
The great benefit was that it gave us a place to mount our tablet in the v birth so we can watch movies on the hook. Just did that this past weekend. Works great.
Our primary anchor is a Bruce claw and its small enough that it fits in there perfectly. I keep a danforth in the stern locker just in case but have not used it for years.

Very nice, Sam, thanks for the pics! I had not thought of a large open locker like that. It would certainly make flaking the rode a non-issue.

Here is my method of making a "funnel", as Centerline has suggested. My hawse pipe is a small round opening like yours (Gene Neill), which is in the deck right above my 4" pvc funnel. I have no trouble stuffing 3 strand rode down there, just do it hand over hand close to the hawse. Shaking the line and especially the chain in the water before you bring it on deck will clean it off and keep your bilge clean.
