...I prefer the natural smells of the outdoors. ....The smell of diesel and gasoline from other boats floating on the surface of the lake combined with the occasional dead carp is good. The thing with our sense of scent is that we can become desensitized to them. So a little bit goes a long way for other's olfactory senses. I use the occasional citronella candle inside my cabin to keep out the mud wasps and the blood sucking skeeters.
Ah, a man after my own heart...

You're not married obviously!!!:D
Actually, I am.
But I decided to draw the line when I found a fragrance at a local dollar store called, "Booty Call" and when I had to sit near some guy for two hours that wore a whole bottle of spruce tree scent. Not that I mind the smell of spruce trees. It's the fake spruce scent that bugs me.

Just a quick update...

the baking soda did the trick. Now the cushions smell as they should - like 30 yr old upholstery.

Gotta remember to put a case of baking soda on my provisions list before I go out cruisin'.

Thanks,
Bill

Another great tip I stole somewhere, is to stand all the cushions up on edge for winter storage. It allows air to get to the large surfaces and prevents vinyl-bottomed cushions from trapping water under the cushion all winter.
