I am considering changing my fixed 3-Blade prop to a 3 blade Max Prop with adjustable pitch. Any comments on the performance of this prop in terms of efficiency and backing? I would appreciate your comments.

feathering/folding prop

Hi Jeff, I've heatd good things about the Max Prop. Any feathering/folding prop will be a big improvement over your fixed prop. If you work with Willis Marine in Huntington you're welcome to view my new Gori prop which is sitting on the floor in Tony's office waiting to be installed. They also have several Max Props you can look at. Mike Beller

You'll like it!

I have the Max prop on my boat, and it works very well. When you put the transmission in reverse, the prop actually flips around so that the leading edeg of the prop is now facing the proper way for reverse. Very little prop walk. The boat was commissioned with the Max prop installed, so I do not have a performance reference as to the speed when the prop feathers. It does feather, I have checked that out many times. Best of luck to you Jack

feathering prop

Jeff; I have a Max-Prop Feathering on my Bene 40 and love it. Put the trans in reverse and give it a little throttle and it's like putting on brakes. The boat backs out of the slip, against the prevailing breeze, with no problem and the feathering feature is worth a half or three-quarters of a knot.
