A year or three ago there was a discusiion re Maxi-prop and other feathering props. What did you end up doing Ray R? Any other opinions on feathering props for 41-42 hunters?

I installed an Autostream feathering prop a year ago on my last haul-out. Great prop and works very well. It is confusing as there are some really good props out there and it is hard to decide. I went with the Autostream because I knew a number of people that had bought the prop and really like the performance. Also, I was able to sit down with Gary at Martec. Martec manufactures their own folding prop and also distributes the Autostream. Gary took the time to go over all the aspects of feathering and folding props.
A concern for those of us facing crab traps (or lobster pots) is that the blades on a feathered prop will still snag lines, but a folded prop sheds them pretty well. Assuming that you are sailing.
Flex-O-Fold
Last year i replaced the fixed two bladed prop with a three bladed flex-o-fold. Can not beleave the difference. The boat sails faster, more control motoring and backs up better. That prop will take the boat from hull speed to dead stop in a boat length.

Had an Autoprop on our Benny 361 and loved it. Plenty of power while motoring and much less drag while sailing. Other than replacing the nose cone zinc and greasing the hubs there were zero adjustments. With a clean bottom there was no problem hitting max RPMs and hull speed.
Ditto for us! we've had an autoprop on our 356 for 7 years now, and only need to grease and replace the zinc tailcone. much better performance sailing and in forward and reverse
