Feathering Prop for my C350

I am taking delivery of a new Catalina 350 hull number four. I have written to purchasers of number two and three who are planning on "Autoprops". I am not familiar with this or your props as far as performance enhancement of this vessel. I sail in the Chesapeake primarily, with some Atlantic Coastal as I live in Atlantic City. I do not race but plan on cruising with this vessel.

There is really nothing quite as solid as the power of a feathering prop. Wheather you buy autoprop, Martec or the others you will love it. Not just the better sailing speed but the power in forward and in particular reverse. Just yeterday I brought my boat to a marina to have the fuel tank polished, I had to back in 100 yards next to a barge (narrow opening) and on board by myself and the guys working in the marina were quite impressed when I backed it right past the barge and into a slip.Love my feathering prop!

Love my Maxi Prop

Would recommend a 3 bladed maxi . . . they have a model that allows the pitch to be adjusted under water. This is a great advantage if you want to max the engine performance and don't want to haul the boat 3 times.

Auto Prop

Hi Again.. # 3 here. Thanks for your e- mail. Is your boat in yet?Go with the Auto prop. It has some measurable performance advantages over the Maxi Prop. (Maxi is a good unit too).For information, go to the Auto Prop Web site. Look forward to meeting you someday here as I am in Philadelphia. Will eventually keep the boat in A/C or LBI.
