So what sails/makers are currently doing well racing for Catalina 22? I recall having an Ullman mylar genoa on my last 22 that was a beast but that was over 20 years ago!

If you're gonna race you need to follow either Class or your local rules. Some rules determine whether or not sails that are not Dacron are allowed. Non-Dacron sails are often precluded to avoid "pricey sails wars" 
Right, just looking for insight from those who race them, preferably in One Design events. They will know what sail maker is doing well for their boat design. I always bought class legal sails for my 22 and in the 90s a mylar headsail was already legal.
The Catalina 22 Racers at the national level have heavily gravitated towards the Waters Sails for the past few decades. Owner Joe Waters, who recently passed away, was very much involved with the Catalina 22 racing community and designed sails to maximize the boat's performance. With Joe's passing, Evolution Sails (Sailing Inc) has now acquired the Water Sails designs for Catalina 22 sails.
Other popular and well-performing sails at the national level include Ullman Sails, UK Sails and Schurr Sails. There are a few other sailmakers with products that also perform well.
I have attached a copy of the Catalina 22 MainBrace magazine (June edition) that features photographs from this year's Catalina 22 National Championship Regatta. You can zoom in on pictures to see what sailmakers are used.

Rich, thx so much for posting that Main Brace. I used to own a 1981 #10496 fro 1983 to 87, great boat, SF Bay and Clear Lake during the summers. The photographs were superb, great to see the wide variety of boats. #8 - fantastic. I may have missed and even earlier one.
