Perhaps someone can help. My huntreer thirty has a type B panel and the starting button does not always work. The alarms work so I don't thinf the ground is faulty. It sometimes requires 3 of 4 pushes on the button to engage the starter. The button is intermitenty completely dead. I have cleaned the connections but that doesn't seem to help. I am thinking of replacing the button itself butit is only 12 years old!! Any ideas??

12 years

I suppose if you could short across the button wires and it always starts, then it is the button. Everything has an average life span. Sometimes we get caught on the short side of the average, although I'm not sure 12 years is all that short for a button outside in a marine environment. Dan (S/V Feije)

Buy a new button.

Mine was doing the same thing. Figured it was getting a little corroded on the inside. Replaced it and now it it is a one push operation. Pretty easy, button screw locks on and comes pre-wire with socket connections. I think it was somewhere between $15-30. I don't remember b/c I replaced my panel at the same time. Mike at Mavex 305-436-1860 will ship you one.

Mine only made it 4 years...

My starter button did the same thing but after only 4 years. Not sure where the panel is mounted on your boat but it's pretty exposed on the 340. I got a new one button from WM for around $20 and popped it right in. It really doesn't take much corrosion there to keep things from working. After 12 years I'd say it's time for a new one!

I did mine...

...after 11 years. It cost about $35 and was an easy job. Mine had the same symptoms as yours.
