faucet removal

I ordered a new faucet for the head of my 90 C-30. When I looked to see what would be needed I discovered that there is no way to visualize what it securing the faucet to the countertop. It feels like a piece of plastic triangular shaped. Does anyone have any insight on removal? Does the sink have to come out?? Any thoughts will be appreciated. David

Dave I replaced my faucet in the head a couple of years ago. My memory is not perfect but I recall a "plate " that fit on under the counter with holes for the H and C connections to pass through and two threaded plastic "wing nuts" that tightened underneath the counter. Could you use a light and a hand mirror to see up under the counter through the cabinet doorway in the front of the counter?
