I,ve read that fabric spray can be a preformance enchancer and makes the sail easier to handel. Fabric spray; is this a water repellent, a starch, what is fabric spray?

I found this cruising tip in Sail Magazine on page 44. They refer to a fabric spray that I think is water repellent. Just wanted to be sure before I went a sprayed it all over the place.
