Just wondering if this is one of your home videos?
I’ve never had the pleasure of owning a biggish cruiser but I’ve gotta agree about bearing off and going for the plane on the 216 is a real blast (feel like a kid - big grin - not a care in the world). I had a little of that action the day I took the photo.I truly love my big-ish cruiser, but there is not much more fun that you can (legally) have than beam-reaching a Hunter 216 in 15 knots of steady breeze.
I had posted as if his avatar was a fun boat to sail, but this is my dream boat;
That’s a beauty! Might be a little tricky to single hand though.I had posted as if his avatar was a fun boat to sail, but this is my dream boat;

What is it they say, "out of sight, out of mind." Anything that high up is pretty much out of sight IMO. Certainly NOT a single-handed 'round the world cruiser, but the fun a bunch of like minded folks could have sailing her across the ocean and through the Med or Caribbean is hard to beat.That’s a beauty! There is also a little bit of modern mixed in. Can you spot it?
Prudent departure from tradition from a safety perspective AND it is way up there!What is it they say, "out of sight, out of mind." Anything that high up is pretty much out of sight IMO. I actually sailed by this same boat today. I was out in really light wind on the same upwind tack and she was REALLY gaining on me. I jibed around and crossed really close to their stern as she “powered” by belching diesel exhaust - headsail on for show. Fantasy crushed! Guess I’ll have to go shopping!This is the boat I own and the one I would love to have. Guess which is which?

We had 12 crew on the schooner Wanderer. Three on each watch (at sea) and the captain. Day sailing, of course, all are awake and at work. I'm pretty sure were they about to tack or jibe you'd see a flurry of activity, but fine-tuning a 150-foot schooner under nearly full sail isn't too common. Get on course, set the sails to suit and sit back and watch the rooster tail as she settles into the groove.Prudent departure from tradition from a safety perspective AND it is way up there!
I count 14 people on deck but no one seems to be doing anything other than the helm, they are all just enjoying the ride. I guess that’s pretty close to “fantasy” sailing.
Is this the Wanderer you refer to?We had 12 crew on the schooner Wanderer

Ah a person of action not wordsNope.
Everybody has to fantasize about it. Captain King sank her in the Tuamotus after her sail to Tahiti under Captain Omar Darr. I spent about 4 months on her as crew in SF Bay and fortunately got to sail to Mexico under Captain Darr on that last voyage.Ah a person of action not words
The travels on Wanderer must have been wonderful, I can only “fantasize” about it![]()
