Familiar with Nanni 3.21 diesel?

Ahoy,
Still considering a re-power of my 1979 Hunter 30. I have come across a new Nanni 3.21 that I believe to be lighter than my YSM 12. I base this on the belief that the weight of the YSM 12 with transmission is about 250 lbs. Does anyone have info to confirm or refute this?
It also seems to be a good engine compartment fit looking at dimensions.
So, has anyone had experience with Nanni diesels here on the forum, good or bad?
The motor comes without a transmission so if I purchase it I will have to figure out a solution to that. I prefer not to spend a lot buying a transmission from Nanni; any suggestions?

I remember hearing that the Nanni was a Kubota clone. Perhaps you can check up on that.

Nanni lists the 3.21 as 106kg or 233lb with gear box. 21 hp 3 cyl, appears to be a Kubota block. You can't best Kubota for durability and parts availability. The difference between brands lies in the marinization job, from Universals poor to Betas excellent. I'm not familiar with Nanni, but the pictures look good, all filters, oil stick, and pumps right up front. I don't see a built in oil change pump like on the Beta.
If your Yanmar trans is still good, you can probably bolt it to the Nanni with a simple adapter plate. The hot rod guys do that in cars all the time.

I put a Nanni 3.1 into my H37 cutter. Saved a huge amount of weight over the original 3QM30 but doesn't have quite the power. Love the built in oil change pump and 100 amp alternator that was standard. Ordered the unit with the tranny fluid cooler. Worth the extra. Relatively quiet, very smooth and reliable. Would buy another (for another boat).
