I am thinking about giving the teak a two part cleaning before we shrinkwrap for the winter. Thay way next spring all I have to do is put on two coats of teak oil. Will the wood look good next spring or will it go grey when it is protected and dry under the plastic? Comments...?

why not oil now?

Prep is the part that takes the longest. oil it now and add a coat in the spring. Tim R.

Worth the work now

If you go to all the trouble of cleaning it this fall, then by all means put at least one coat on it before you shrink it. There is still air under the plastic and if you think about it sometimes some very big swings in temperature. If you don't coat it at least some this fall, you will be at least doing some touch up cleaning before you coat it in the spring. Take the extra step now and add the final touch by adding a fresh coat or two in the spring after quick wash and adequate dry to make sure you don't seal in the winter dirt.
