Sitting at Jewell Island waiting for the eclipse. Great wind all the way here. We just had beers at the punch bowl watching waves break in the moon light. We are the only boat here. Making dinner listening to some cool tunes.

Nice! Unfortunately we have to run to Boston tomorrow, otherwise there may be two boats there....
We now have that same moon here in Washington State 3 hours later. It's just as sweet. Not another soul here either. No pub, but we've got a hell of a cooler. 27 degrees tonight.

LOL. Ray, the punch bowl is a U shaped beach that turns into a tidal pond at low tide. We supplied our own beer and sat on a big piece of drift wood. I guess you could say it was our own private pub.
Enjoy it folks! Most likely our last sail of the season was also under the full moon, after a great day of 15 knot winds. Same moon, too.
The only decent place to anchor is between the Jewell's. We land the dinghy in the anchorage and walk to the punch bowl.
Season Done:cry:. Dropped the mast, 2 hour motor to a friends pier (inside a railroad bridge), empty trailer to the house for new rollers and fix bent stuff. One more motor to get her on the trailer and home then wrap up... this summer flew by....

today we had the long john regatta here on Geist Resivoir... you do need long johns when you sail in this kind of weather.... it was about 47f degrees today when we headed out on the lake... we had to drop out of the 1st keelboat race... the capt. slipped during a tack, fell on the tiller, and broke it.... we were out of the race... we limped back to the dock and put the boat away... My capt. , mark (other crewman), and myself went up to the clubhouse and we started helping to cookout for the party later.... the wind was gusting up to 25+ mph... 2 lightning got flipped while coming back into the marina... at the entrance to the marina, a lazer ran into another boat capsized, and the boom struck a crew member on the head.... they ended up taking 3 people from the little boats to the hospital, but they were reported to be doing good...
hope everyone else has a good last sail before they put their boats on the hard again...

Especially if you want it all to yourself. Although this weekend, I saw more boats sailing than past late October weekends.
The scenery in October is amazingly vivid and the light makes everything look a bit sharper.
