ok

well where do I get the real wood? I cant even find that w/o buying it attached to 1/2" plywood. I contacted one company, and they said they have never seen it sold w/o the plywood backing. they make the veneer and laminate it to plywood and sell it as a unit. Im sure It can be had, but where? I am really good at web searches and never imagined it would be this hard to locate it. thanks

Brobins 75, You're looking for wood in all the wrong

places. Charleston is a big city with lots of cabinet makers. Talk to those guys and tell them what you want to accomplish and let them tell you how to get there. I am fortunate in that I have wood working machines so that when I wanted to cover up the painted plywood in Bietzpadlin I sawed and planned some cypress into 3 inch wide and 1/4 inch thick boards and laminated those to the plywood base. Little stainless steel brads and some titebond 3 wood glue is all it took to hold them in place. Your local lumber yards can supply you with wonderful southern states lumber ranging from cypress and pine to persimmon and Kentucky coffee tree. You just have to decide what look you want and then hunt for the source. WoodMizer manufactures portable saw mills and the owners of those mill some wonderful unusual species. There is bound to be one in your area. Check with the shop teachers in the high schools and community colleges. Sometimes you can take a wood working non-credit course at the community college and have access to all of the equipment. http://yellowpages.aol.com/sawmills/sc/charleston/
