I have been researching full winter boat covers. Do any of you have experience or knowledge with a company called Fairclough Sailmakers Inc.? www.fairclough.com I am interested in knowing from a user about thier quality. Does the new material Vivatex really reduce mildew compared to canvas? Was the company easy to work with and delivered on time? Would you buy from them again? Would you buy the same type of cover? Thanks for your input!

Boat Cover

Dave, look in the archives. There is wealth of information on several suppliers. I am going into my 2nd season with my Fairclough cover with a full frame for my H420 and am fully satisfied. Was on the expensive side compared to other manufactures, but they are suppose to last 10 to 13 years depending on how well you take care of it. I figure a small price to pay/year. A lot lighter than canvas to handle and one person can do it if time is not a factor. Fairclough was easy to work with and I had no problems.

Great Cover

I also am going into the second season with my Fairclough Cover. I am very pleased. It stood up to the weather last winter, was well vented and kept the boat surface clean and dry. The frame keeps the cover high and lets you work on the boat while in storage if you wish. The people were great to work with. Looking at the life of the cover it probably comes out to about $250.00 a year (or less) and much less then the price of shrink wrapping every year. Bob Keller sv Kathryn H 356

Fairclough

Ordered a cover from Fairclough earlier this spring for my 356. Excellent folks to work with. They were familiar with the 356 and the arch and fabricated the cover to accomodate it. As this is the first year with the cover I elected to pay a little more and have them install it the first time. I expect to have it installed in early November. Can't seem to bring nyself to end the season yet. Marc

Do you keep the boom on?

With your Fairclough cover, do you keep the boom in place on the H356 or take the boom off? On you 356, do you have the mast support struts? Thanks for this information. I want to tuck the boat in safe and sound.

Boom Stays On

Yes, I have the support struts and the boom stays on. Last year unfortunately I did not make the cut for mast up storage, my marina has limited mast up space. The cover however was designed that the boom would stay on and the supports for the cover will go just higher then the boom. It is nice to be able to walk the deck with the cover on. Bob
