Failing Sherwood Raw Water Pump - Any Replacements

My 1990 Catalina 30 is equipped with the Universal M-XP25 diesel. The Sherwood Raw Water pump has given up the ghost. Does any one know of a replacement source? Is there a better pump I can change to? The pump sucks in a lot of weeds and I have replaced the impeller numberous times. The job is difficult since the bolt heads are between the engine block and pump body and with the hose and alternator belt configuration it's a difficult repair to make. I would appreciate any information you could give me. Thank you.

YOu can replace the Sherwood with and Orbendorfer pump also from Depco. $202.00. It is easy to replace the inmpeller as the screws are on the outside as you look at the motor. It also has an o ring type seal so it does not need a gasket on the faceplate. I just ordered and replaced one on my Catalina 34. If you tell them at Depco they know the pump model for the Universal 25 XP. You can use this pump or the Sherwood as described in the engine manual. Quite a lot on this subject on the C34 site.
