What a weekend. Saturday we saw a great air show while anchored at Quonset Point. (Great show, hope to see more Hunters next year.) Sunday we heard from another Hunter (Boy and a Dolphin) that the Mayflower II was going up the bay from Newport to Providence. Sure enough as we were sailing near Hope Island and watching a repeat performance of the F-14 on Sunday and the Mayflower came up the bay. Sailing with the Mayflower and watching an F-14, what a trip. Only issue was the wind. NOAA was calling for less than 10kts and we got 20kts. In our area they are expanding the forecast from 2-5 days. Interesting thought, however I would be happy if they could only get today's weather at least close. Russell S/V Allie Kat

I saw that and more...

...we overnighted at Dutch Harbor, then sailed North around Conanicut Island to return to Newport. We saw about 2 hours of the air show including the F-14 (and got buzzed by the F-86, a Korean War era fighter). Next we saw a new Virginia-class nuclear submarine hull being barged from Quonset down to Electric Boat. Finally, we saw the Mayflower II on the Northeast side of Conanicut. Talk about an interesting day on the water!
