I can't speak for Dave but I certainly recommend it. I ordered it from Cabela's. Makes all the difference in the world.
Kermit,
Did you buy there $70.00 product/ rudder outboard arm attachment or did you buy the EZ Steer product $275.00 product.

I got the Panther steering rod from Cabela's. Just under $70. Works like a charm. I HIGHLY recommend it. The hardest part of the installation was figuring out how much of the threaded rod to cut off. And even that wasn't rocket science. Just make sure you have a nut on the inside of where you're gonna cut. That way when you take the nut off again it'll fix the threads where you cut.

Just a note:

I bought the steering link at JMSOnline.net, they sell it still for $58.03 part # PAN552600.
The pic shows how I attached the rod to a newer Honda 9.9 hp outboard.

The steering link is now in use since about a year at my boat, I have made some experiences. I really like it, it is very beneficial especially at low speed.

But I had an issue; the rod was bending in some circumstances. I tried the rod to bend back but could not get it straight again.
Zoro.com sells threaded rods in 316 SS, 3/8-24x3 ft, which I bought, it seem to be stronger and does the job very well.
