Extra water tank for C310

I am purchasing a new Catalina 31 but note that the one water tanks hold less water than my Catalina 28 Mk II which has 2 water tanks. I intend to order a 2nd plastic 100 litre rigid tank to be installed under the front berth during production. Are there any c31 owners who have done this and are there any problems with the balance of the boat when both tanks are full. Alternatively is there somewhere else to put an extra tank (100 ltrs). I prefer rigid to flexible tanks.

There are two on the C320

One is located forward under the V-berth, the other aft on the starbord side under the "owner cabin," for a total tankage of 45 gal. You might want to look at one to see how they are configured and whether it would apply to the C310. The V-berth tank is mounted higher than I'd like for stability, but the boat seemed to weather seas OK anyway.A good quality bladder (soft) tank, or a set of smaller bladder or rigid tanks, might be fitted somewhere in the various nooks & crannies. Preferably low on the hull, but not in the bilge. Personally, I'd plumb them all separately with shutoff valves at the tank and the feeds running to a manifold that has individual tank shutoffs. The C320 manifold & pressure pump is located low on the hull at the aft port side under the owner's cabin berth just opposite the aft water tank. Don't forget to have each tank separately vented topside.--RonD

Weight distribution

Will you be using anchor rode or all chain? This could make a difference about where you put an extra fresh water tank. If you are going to be using chain, I would be worried about the extra weight of the extra water tank up front. If you are going to use rode, then you should be fine.I have heard of some owners putting flexible water tanks in the starboard setee (on the opposite side as the battery bank) for extra fresh water capacity. Weight Distribution extra water tank

MattThanks for that info. I intend not to use all chain but rope and chain say 31 ft chain and 150 ft rope I was advised by Catalina here of the weight problem with all chain
