External Hull Strainer?

Regarding the External hull strainer. Is there special/complicated instructions to installing one? Does anyone have experience with one clogging? I hear that the grates can also get clogged (paper, plastic, etc.). This seems to have a more difficult remedy than what we currently have to go through.

MINE WORKS!

Paul: The strainer is really easy to install (on dry land!). I bought a circular one, drilled very small pilot holes for the screws, dipped it in bottom paint (making sure that the holes were open when it dried!!!) and put it on the boat. I repaint it every time the boat is hauled and I've not had a problem with sea grass, etc. since.
