External Fuel Tank

We have a 2004 Nissan 4 hp outboard on our 216,which has a connection for an external fuel tank to augment the 1.0 Liter integral tank, that we're thinking about. A 3 gal seems to be the smallest available. Anybody gone that route? Also, once the unit is hooked up and I guess pressurized with the in-line bulb, how does the gas get to the carburetor? The manual doesn't cover it. Any ideas? Thanks.

H216 - 3 gallon tank for 4 hp Nissan engine

Jacktar,I suspect I have an identical 4 hp Nissan engine. I purchased a 3 gallon gasoline tank with a bulb type fuel line that runs between the tank and engine connection to motor around the lake on occasion. My engine has a little valve on the fuel line from the integral fuel tank to the carburetor. I normally cut it off after using the engine when using the integral fuel tank.To use the external tank I cut off the integral fuel tank with this valve. All you have to do to use the external fuel tank is to cut off the integral fuel tank on the engine, plug the fuel line into the receptacle provided on the engine, pressurize the line with the bulb until it is hard and open up the 3 gal tank vent. The engine is then cranked by pulling the cord just as with the integral fuel tank. In my case, the engine actually starts easier with the external fuel tank.

Hi Lamar!Thanks for the info, looking into it. West Marine seems to have everything I need, except the actual connection to the engine. Dealer sofar doesn't have the connector , is trying to find one. Thanks again.
