Extendable Mast Crutch

I've seen a lot of DIY Mast crutches and raising systems. I've created a crutch for my ODay 22 that is barely "serviceable" using PVC. It works for trailering but I want to be able to extend it for raising the mast. A standard crutch won't work because of the angle of the transom. I've considered installing it on the inside of the cockpit but I don't love the idea.

Any thoughts?

The best ones I've seen have an extendable crutch that stores easily in the lazerette. You only need to get the mast about 2 feet above the cabin top for enough leverage to get it moving. As long as the mast base is secure to the step....it's pretty secure. Some people use small brackets at the base to minimize swaying. If you're raising andlowering while the boat's in the water I'd go with a "gin pole" system. that puts all the leverage and stability control on the foredeck side, No crutch used.
