Archie you lucky guy, looks like a wonderland to me. I also hear the fishing is fabulous. We should visit you when I get rich or win the lottery. I love to fish and sail so do some of that for me. What do you do now that you've retired from the military? Don't tell me sheep either dude ! Just returned from our Spring Banquet for our sailing club. If you're interested go to www.Lakemonroesailing.com That's us here in Indiana on Lake Monroe, not exactly NZ but we love it and have a great group of about 250 people who share the sailing dream. I'm retired so I do exactly as I please:)

Steve You're right, it's a bit of a playground here. The sea fishing is great, the fish just commit suicide by hurling themselves onto the hook. There's also big game fishing for the big boys, but I'd rather see the Marlin and his pals alive. The Trout fishing down south is also very good so I'm told but that sounds too much like sport for my liking. Fishing for me is about reeling 'em in and being back in time for beer o'clock, not teasing them with a piece of fluff and a 2 ounce breaking strain line until I drop dead with boredom. As you see I'm no purist. Of course there's all the usual surf stuff here as well as the obligatory Bungee jumping and river jet boating. If you are completely brain dead there's also Zorbing, look it up. It's great for fans of broken collar bones and projectile vomiting. Well me, I left the military a long time ago and after a few crappy dead end jobs started a transport business in England. Having run that for nearly 2O years it's now in the capable hands of my management team. So I'm now a retired 49 year old with a little of my youth left to enjoy my retirement. I think too many people work till they're 65 and die at 67, just so they can have a bigger house or a flashier car, what a waste. The good lady and I have modest tastes, a realistic outlook and an eye for a bargain. We don't live high off the hog, but it certainly beats working for a living. As for betting on the lottery, you really would be better giving your money to an African money scam, the odds on a return must be better from him!:0 Just had a look at your club, holy cow, that's organised boating for you. There's more boats in your marina than there is in all of New Zealand, slight exageration there perhaps. It does very slick and well organised. Here we have a choice of 2 boat ramps, one is concrete the other was once concrete, put a donation in the honesty box. There are a few moorings but you have to kill somebody to get one. I believe if you put your name down for one on the night of your own conception then your eldest great grandchild is in with a fair chance of getting the next available mooring:) Archie

Message for Ad

Hi Ad you say you're bringing your boat here to NZ in late 2005. Would you be interested in sharing a container with my boat when I get it? MacGregors load 2 to a container when they ship from their factory though you'd need to demount the motor and rudders. The Mac DVD shows a boat loaded in a container. They appear to have put two steadies under the rear of the trailer chassis but it's not clear what they do with the wheels and axles. To maneouvre the trailer without the wheels would require a pair of trolley jacks and a bit of ingenuity. We are looking to buy in August/September time and ship ASAP to have the boat here for November. I've spoken to LTNZ about trailer registration and it's not a problem though it will need a WOF. A couple of points to bear in mind, If you pick up your boat yourself. Your NZ tow-ball may not fit the US hitch and same applies to the lighting socket for the trailer lights. It's OK to have the red flashing rear indicators here, but my intention is to arrive to pick up the trailer with a ready set-up light board and a long cable for it. If you're interested you can get me on contactsteveandtina@hotmail.com Archie, (Real name is Steve. It's a long story involving alcohol.)
