I have read resounding reviews and recommendations for the Raritan PHII's etc. and only mentions of the PHC. My Hunter 280 has a small platform for the head and the PHII would demand that I add some sort of shelf extension to get the PHII replacemnt bolted in. Soooo, I'm considering the PHC which is supposed to have the same pump on a smaller frame. Any thoughts out there?? Thanks for your time.

PHC is essentially a PH II....

Except the pump is mounted on a compact base to fit in a smaller space...the pump is the same one that's on full size PH II toilets. That's why you don't see much about the PHC, only the PH II...they're the same toilet. The only downside: scrunching the pump and bowl onto a compact base means that only the small "standard" bowl will fit it. So if you want a PHC with the household size bowl, you're out of luck. Take some measurements to be sure the PHC will fit. It should, but you want to be sure--especially that there's enough space for the lever style pump handle. Again, there should be, but on some boats it has be left in the up position to close the head door...but that's no big deal.

Re: Your Thoughts Peggie

Thanks for the tip on the lever. I 'think' I'll have room for it as long as I can reverse the pump & bowl; ie. pump on left, bowl on right. I called Raritan and their drawings for the PHC leave some dimensions off so maybe I can get them to send a set of installation instructions (?). I would really like to use the existing hole for the waste hose as my reference point for installation.

Standard vs. Household size

Where can I get the household size bowl? West Marine and Defender list just one PHII, and it's not clear which it is though I'll bet it's the standard (smaller) size.

PHC

Actually, you CAN get a PHC with a household-size bowl and seat. BUT, you'll be kinda defeating your purpose of fitting it into a tight area. It's overall width is about an inch wider that the PHC with the smaller bowl. More importantly, the larger bowl and seat extend farther out the back of the toilet (approx 2" more) and farther out the front, too (approx 1 1/2" more). Plus, if you have any sort of physical "overhang," you may find that part of your butt is now on top of the toilet's pump. So yes, it can be gotten (on special order from Raritan, part # PHCHB, its costs is only $25.00 less than the regular PHII). Is it recommended? No.
