Exhaust Vent Loop Squeaks

Our exhaust vent loop is mounted on the forward bulkhead of the cockpit locker. When the boat idles, it squeaks loudly. The squeak seems to go away when the engine speeds up under load. We've been advised this is normal but it makes such a racket when idling at the dock. Curious to know if others have experienced this and whether there might be some suggestions.

Most likely the little check valve in the top of the loop. With low pressure in the main exhaust hose, the little valve would inhale every time the muffler burps water.. you could try removing the valve and cleaning it carefully. The valve usually unscrews easily.. another way might be to eliminate the little valve . You have to have a high place to vent to , higher than the vented loop by a foot or more.. The little valve would be replaced with a hose barb fitting that would screw on in place of the valve. from that hose barb, a piece of small diameter tubing (maybe 1/4") would be led to a high point where it would vent water when the engine is running under load..
You could try a different brand vented loop .. though that is an expensive trial-and-error game to play.
Some folks even use an electric solenoid valve to close the loop vent when the engine is running..

Most likely the little check valve in the top of the loop.
If that is the reason, then I would suggest the vented loop is installed in the wrong spot. Mine is on the discharge of the sea water pump, well up stream (pressure drop wise) of the riser. There should never be a vacuum there or my pump is failing.

Some boats have another one near the exhaust outlet, after the water lift

I guess I should have mentioned this is a brand new boat ... does that change the answers?

"Brand new boat"-do they still make them? What does the dealer say? It is not normal and your boat will not grow out of it. (pediatric dis' lingo)
