Exhaust system

Just installed a new Beta engine today, and as suspected, the exhaust pipe
from the old MD6A does not fit, nor does it look adaptable since it is a
rigid pipe, and originally attached on the right side, while the exhaust
manifold on the Beta is on the left. Would appreciate some input from anyone
that had the same set-up.

My advice is to get rid of the old pipe, intall a Vetus waterlock and
use flexible marine exhaust hose. I did this on my MD6A seven years
ago and have had no problems + the exhaust is quieter...

Hans,

I also installed a Beta in my Vega.
You'll want to replace the existing copper with flexible exhaust hose, either
with Vetus waterlock muffler or in-line muffler with gooseneck to prevent
back siphoning.
Make sure engine exhaust elbow, muffler, and
gooseneck are same size as hose. If you have other questions, your welcome
to e-mail or to call me @(219) 874-8365, wal@....

Thanks to Jim and Steve for responding. After posting my question I happened
to browse "This Old Boat", and sure enough, there was an exact desription of
the system I had, and the recommended Aqua Lift (Vetus, etc.) system.
Thanks again.
