Exhaust refit

On the 79 Catalina 30 I just bought the exhaust was very bad, the pipe was actually being held together with the heat tape..

I was considering using the Barr water riser #20-0094

or is replacing the pipe to original the best for keeping the water from going back into the engine ??

This is how I did mine and ran it up the wall in the sitting area pretty much just to the port side of where it is in the picture. This is not me in the picture, it is Phil Jones [Marine Man] the San Diego dealer for beta.

I have a 1978 hull # 980 the original hose goes behind the stove and the icebox and in mine it was foamed in, I see no way that you can replace the hose in its original factory installation. After the hose goes through the U shaped piece it drops back down and runs to the back exhaust port/exit through the boat.
