The joint between the exhaust flange and mixing elbow failed on my Yanmar 3HM35. I want to replace the mixing elbow, joint, and flange that bolts to the exhaust manifold. I foung the Yanmar part numbers for the mixing elbow and joint (124070-13520 and 104214-13580 respectively - hope those are correct), but I am unable to locate a part number for the right angle flange fitting and gasket to the manifold. Can anyone assist?

Your local Yanmar dealer/distributor should be able to assist you. It is not like you can purchase from anyone else.

I am in Stuart across the state from you. I have had very good service from the local Yanmar dealer here in town, http://www.whiticar.com/storefront.html#!/~/category/id=2600019&offset=0&sort=normal
I just bought the whole mixing elbow/manifold/joiner from him for our 3GM30F engine. He was able to get me a "take off" from a new Yanmar engine for a savings of over $100. They seem very happy to provide advice, answer questions or look things up when I am in the store, very customer service oriented.

good luck, Bob

Sorry cant help with part numbers. The screwed coupling in the picture which has right and left hand threads corroded and fractured through on my 20 year old system. Fills boat with exhaust fumes, steam and water until it chokes the engine. A turkish machinist turned me up a replacement in 1 hour for approx $25. The elbow with the water inject point had a finger sized hole for the exhaust to pass through. Tried to clean it up but not very effective. I am wondering if this is the reason for never getting more than 2.5K revs max. Could someone estimate what minimum area the hole is in a new one of these please. I made up the exhaust flange with high temperature silicone e.g. dow corning plumba flue sealant which says it's good for 570 deg F.

Martin have a look at the pictures here, http://www.ipyoa.com/photos/62-hayden/album?albumid=118 They will give you a good idea of what your job is. It might help to open the top of the mixing elbow where the round plug is and try cleaning it out from there too. Someone posted a while back that they use pool chemicals to clean it out, not sure what that means but indicates there may be a way to dissolve the deposits.

good luck, Bob

Bob: Pool chemicals probably equates to muriatis acid. That should finish off eating through any metal that the sea water did not take care of!
