Guy at the shop sadi "no charge" when I picked up my elbow and flange after requsitng that they be separated since I couldn't get the elbow off. He said it comes off no problem if you remember that Yanmar's have reverse threads on the elbow to riser pipe joint and regular threads on the riser to flange joint.
The first time I tried to remove the elbow I remembered the reverse threads but still couldn't get it off and the shop haard a hard time too when I brought in the elbow/flange then. I used a teflon based pipe dope that time and I guess it did the trick this time ( If you remember the reverse threads) but it still cost me a $20 flange gasket for my forgetfulness.
