It seems like there is always grumbling and complaints about marine equipment and service these days. I think it is good to let everyone know when good things happen.

My Fireboy halon system that I installed 13 years ago has a shutdown controller that will stop both my generator and auxiliary if either of my two halon cylinders discharge. I have a round panel display that shows a ready light status and a switch that can override the shutdown after a discharge. The switch has a rubber boot to protect it from the elements, and this display is mounted at my helm in the cockpit.

I noticed that the rubber boot had deteriorated over the years and had a tear that would let in water. I emailed Fireboy to ask if I could obtain a new boot for this old display.

They promptly mailed me a new one at no charge. I think that was really nice of them.

This isn't the first time they have given good service. I had a leaking cylinder that was about five years old that they agreed should not have leaked even though it was out of warrantee. They replaced the cylinder with hazmat shipping BOTH ways at no charge to me.

Fireboy gets a "Attaboy" from me.

Thanks Rich. I have often thought that we should have a "Consumer's Report" or "Better Business Bureau" forum here on SBO. You know, somewhere that we could go to see what people's experiences have been with all the companies that we deal with. Three that come immediately to mind for a high rating are Jamestown Distributors, Ronco Tanks, and Rigging Only.
