I acquired a 1990 yachtwin as a freebie after having problems with my 15hp mercury. After mounting it on my sailboat bracket as my new aux motor, I can't figure out how to keep it from tilting up in reverse. My previous mercury ob had a lock button but I can't find anything on this motor. Any help would be appreciated.

thanks

Don't gun it in reverse until you can figure out how to lock it.

There should be a lever on the starboard side (as mounted) below the power head. They are pretty weak and sometimes break off. See the photo at about 4 o'clock below the cover handle. It is labeled "tilt" if present. I hated it as it didn't work very well and eventually broke off...luckily in the locked position. That was a boat ago though.

FYI this is good reading for your new outboard.
