Hi all,
I just started my outboard for my dingy and then tried another outboard that was part of a package deal with a dingy and trailer. I could find Evinrude Lightwin on the cover, but nothing about horsepower or year of manufacture. After a search, my probability quess would be 1957-65 ish and 3 HP. Anyone know where the stamp might be. It did start, but I like some info on fuel mix, spark gap, water pump, etc.

There are lots of resources on the net for these older OBs. Try googling "old outboard" and you will find plenty of help.

I have a couple old Johnson 2.5 hp motors that run and are light. I found the serial numbers on the block then went on the web and was able to look them up. Give it a try. I found all sorts of info for them. Good luck

Thanks guys,
From the serial number, 3022-03126, it appears the outboard is a 3 HP built in 1957. If I get another warm day I'll replace the fuel line and run it some more. I didn't see any water running through it, so I might have to open it up.

no water

You won't see lots of water like the newer outboards with "pee streams", it just sort of mists out of the rectangular port on the back. The OEM manual is available on the web, but I can't find the link now. I have a printed copy on the big boat and could get the site for you if you need it. I think mine is a '56.
