Hi everyone. I'll be in the San Diego area on a business trip next week. Do any of the locals know of a sightseeing/tourist sail tour they'd recommend to take a look at the Bay? Or is anyone looking for crew next Thursday evening?

Harbor Island

You can bareboat out of Harbor Island for a day or half day or? I don't remember the name exactly (Harbor Island Sailing Club?) but they are located at the west end of Harbor Island at the Harbor Island West Marina. Alternatively you can hang around the marina looking lonesome and maybe you'll score a ride! Michael O'

Try this

link. We've never done this, however see the attached photo and you'll see what Stars & Stripes looks like we she's blowing past you. If you notice the crew is watching us intently, we were being hit by a gust and our boat was trying to round up right into them. But really, I believe the only options for "evening" tours are going to be on one of the commercial "Harbor Tour" boats, like the Horn Blowers. Just find your way down to the harbor and look for the Star of India and you'll find thier ticket offices near by.

Sailing in San Diego

Hello Ken, You may also want to try this link, I see Spike Africa out on the bay alot, it is a great looking boat. I am not sure if they sail during the week in the evenings or not. It would be worth telephone call to find out the details. Best of luck and have a great time, bring a sweater, and jacket it gets very cold here at night :) Jack http://www.spikeafrica.com

Do it yourself

Harbor Isl has 2 marinas where you can rent sailboats on either end of the island. Earlier this year I took uot a Capri and retunred after dark THey were very casual about it. Stereotypical So. CA. I really enjoyed the sail on the bay.
