European vs USA made

Can anyone comment on difference in quality, etc from the Bene's made in France prior to 1986 and those made in the USA? Or is there no difference?

Is there a general consensus?

There's no difference since 1986 is when they opened the US Operations. All boats prior to were French built.

Let me rephrase: Is there a difference in quality between French boats made prior to 1986, and USA boats made post 1986?

Skipper thanks for the clarification. In my opinion no there isn't. We're on our 4th Beneteau. The first two were French made and the last two in the US. All have been reliable well built boats. I had some minor issues with the way one of the US boats engine control panel was wired. The crimps for the fuel gauge were poorly done. Also had some component failures such as bilge switches, etc on the new 43 but I attribute those to either wear and tear or product manufacturing faults, none of which were B's fault. They've always stood behind the boat or component warranties.
