Looks like the 2000 honda is going to be the one, which prompts the big question:
a lot of folks are using this model on their boats how can i make this safe for my boat?

Put it at the stern when running, close all nearby hatches and have co detectors below.

Store it and the spare gas where fumes are guaranteed to not get into the boat.

I bought the companion model with the twist lock connector. And bought a 12' cord to feed direct to the house system.

Misstatement Indeed

It appears from this that you are charging via the inverter. Perhaps a mistatement?

The generator does not charge the batteries. I replied using a mobile device that has a mind of its own. Sorry.
