Steve (or anyone else with an answer)

There have been a lot of letters to the editor in Yachting Monthly, and Practical Boat Owner, recently, reference the RCD. I was wondering if the Vega was CE marked or not, and if so , what category. Having re-imported Cin Cin into Europe after Jun 1998, it appears I "could" find myself in some kind of legal mess, by venturing outside of inland waterways. So far no problem, however one never knows when dealing with beaurocrats. Having had to pay the VAT, after it was originally paid 30 years ago, taught me a lesson. Hi Frank

I think you will find it is for new boats only (last five years I think). Teh Vega is certainly not a new boat...

See ya

"Boats that will not need to comply with the RCD include:-
...
Boats built in the EEA prior to 16 June 1998 even if exported and
subsequently re-imported after 16 June 1998.
...
All boats entering the EEA for reasons of tourism or one in transit."The above three lines are from "404 Error Page | Contact Us | RYA - Royal Yachting Association"
As our beloved Vegas were built in Sweden, I suppose that answers the
question?
