If you ever served in the US Navy or US Marines you may have heard this song especially during funerals. I put this out to all former and present service members who paid the ultimate sacrifice. Keep them in your heart.

Best with headphones or on larger speakers.

One of my favourites Brian. Also the hymn of the Royal Navy and all Commonwealth navies.

Almighty Father, strong to save,
Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,
Who bidd'st the mighty ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep:
O hear us when we cry to thee
For those in peril on the sea.

O Christ, the Lord of hill and plain
O'er which our traffic runs amain
By mountain pass or valley low;
Wherever, Lord, thy brethren go,
Protect them by thy guarding hand
From every peril on the land.

O Spirit, whom the Father sent
To spread abroad the firmament;
O Wind of heaven, by thy might
Save all who dare the eagle's flight,
And keep them by thy watchful care
From every peril in the air.

O Trinity of love and power,
Our brethren shield in danger's hour;
From rock and tempest, fire and foe,
Protect them whereso'er they go,
Thus evermore shall rise to thee
Glad praise from air and land and sea.

Eternal Father, grant, we pray,
To all Marines, both night and day,
The courage, honor, strength, and skill
Their land to serve, thy law fulfill;
Be thou the shield forevermore
From every peril to the Corps.

We visited my brother when he was a Midshipman and attended the Navel Academy Chapel service. I was in my young teens, as irreverant as any teen, and I still remember that service.

Thanks, Brian. This is an incredibly powerful hymn. Wherever and whenever I hear it l always think of those that have sacrificed for us. As a USNA grad and retired navy pilot it is the, to me, quintessential gut grabber. For the aviators.

Lord guard and guide the men who fly the great spaces in the sky
Be with them always in the air in darkening storm or sun light fair
O hear us when we lift our prayer for those in peril in the air.

As one who due to material failure ditched my helo four times ( two day two night) in open ocean I identify very closely with this hymn.
And on the eve of 9/11 I remember that 14 Naval Academy grads were killed (murdered).
Thanks again, Brian

@JamesG161, did we forget something? :beer:
