Escape Solsa sailboat mast problem

I have a used escape Solsa sailboat. The previous owner only sailed it once. The mast seems like a very tight fit. It has to slide through a hole in the "deck". The deck hole seems at least a eighth inch smaller. Does anyone else have issues with this mast?

Is the dingy designed to have a Al post set into the deck first and then have the carbon fiber mast slid over it? couldn't find manual for your boat
