EPRIB False Alarms

Sail had a good article on EPRIB False Alarms. I had no idea it is so high.

I’ve not tested mine — how about you have you tested and caused an alarm or did you do it correctly. What is the result?? How about AIS PLBs. How often do you test them???

My ACR EPIRB allows yearly self-tests of the device and ACR provides a self-test web site to confirm it is working. Pretty lame that users don't know enough about their gear to avoid wadding up SAR resources with false alarms.
