I would like to epoxy a battery tray to the hull of my C22 next to the battery that is already there. Any suggestions on what type epoxy to use would be greatly appreciated. The present setup has a tray epoxed to the bottom of the boat with a battery box sitting in the tray. This is what I would like to do with the second battery. Chuck Turner

Easy Project

Hello Chuck, Likely a store bought battery box will not adhere to epoxy. You could first epoxy a small board/marine plywood, then screw the plastic battery box to that. As for which epoxy to use, you have lots of choices. Most are good. I have used Interlux's Watertite with good results for this type of stuff. The Interlux wevsite has lots of info. Google "epoxy repair" and you will have all the information you could want. ljp

Use 4200

Chuck, I did this at the beginning of this year. I used 4200 to "glue" the tray to the plywood base, and then put the battery box in the tray. This way if you want to remove it you can. I bought the tray and box from CD. It is a nice unit. I would not epoxy the tray down. The 4200 has stuck like a bear. Hopes this helps Dale

Thanks

Thanks Guys, This gives me several options for mounting the battery. The battery on the 22 Sport is mounted in a small almost inacessible space and you have to tilt it almost ninety degrees to get it out of the tray.. Last time I spilled battery acid on my hand. I am going to move it to a more accessible place. I like the idea of the marine plywood epoxed to the bottom and the tray glued to that. Again thanks to all for the suggestions. Chuck Turner
