I've had two friends recommend the EPaint antifouling paint products for exceptional bottom paint performance. EPaint link is below. Has anyone had any experience with these products?

See Practical Sailor

Just received the latest issue of PS, with test results of bottom paint. I think epaint did pretty well. jv

Epaint results

Practical Sailor said Epaint EP-ZO rated an excellent in their Connecticut test and a fair+ in Florida. EP-2000 was rated good in Connecticut and poor+ in Florida. Dave S/V Benediction

Expensive....

I have the PS report.... Don't think I could justify $206/ gallon for "good" results when the SuperCopperCoat from Boat/US rates excellent for only $100/gal.!!! Both are hard modified epoxy types I believe.

Yes, expensive

I agree. The price is not worth it unless you are a tree hugger. Environmentalists will eventually find something toxic about it. What the heck was wrong with tin?

Epaint ablative and hard

The EP-ZO is an ablative at $161/gal. EP-2000 is hard at $206/gal. BEST paint in the report, as far as I can tell, is the Interlux Micron Optima @$220.

Ablative?

Both 2000 and ZO are listed as hard, smooth surfaces; where do you see ZO described as an ablative?

Listed where?

I got my info from the Practical Sailor table, which lists the Z) as ablative (V. 29, No. 7, page 6).

epaint tech spec

Also, if you go to the link someone provided (www.epaint.net) and look at the tech spec sheet for EP-ZO, it says that it is ablative (under Specification Data:Coating Type they claim Photoactive Ablative Matrix Vehicle). Why they don't make it more obvious in the 'Products' section isn't clear to me.
