Our wonderful friends at the EPA are at it again...

5. When must EPA receive comments in response to the Federal Register
Notice?

Comments in response to this Federal Register Notice must be received on or before November
9, 2010. Please refer to the Federal Register Notice for additional information about submitting
comments. The Federal Register Notice can be accessed online at www.regulations.gov, Docket
ID No. EPA-HQ-OW-2010-0126, or visit EPA’s website at:
http://www.epa.gov/owow/oceans/regulatory/frnotice_marinesanitation.html.

IIRC, they have had scientific data to support the use of marine sanitation systems for some time, they just don't like what those data support. Oh and a report was imminent two years ago...but is still sitting on someones desk at the EPA, awaiting release, or so they say.

Can ANY of the manufacturers or their reps pony up some time for this...??

Please....we get enough "help" from them without this too,

EPA, as required, is seeking comments on the rulemaking requests, and is soliciting additional technical input and factual information that will be useful to the Agency as it considers how it might respond to these requests.
The Federal Register Notice does not contain, modify or establish any regulatory requirements, but simply seeks public input on what, if any, changes might be warranted.
Friends of the Earth (FOE) is the group which instigated this NPR - perhaps we should be writing them asking that they withdraw their (helpful ) request.

as I did asking their motivation as well as whether any boaters were consulted in their thinking. Some environmental groups are zealots with no consideration for the consequence(s) of their actions. Not sure if this applies here as well.

Easy to tell

It will probably be easy to tell Don. As a general rule I have found that the way out there environmentalists don't have any answers to questions. Nor do they wish to try to come up with any. As the saying goes, they march to a different drummer, and usually waaaaaaay out there in the netherlands.
