Quick and easy hatchboards
Robert -I made inexpensive but really nice hatchboards for my boat last year. I went looking for teak but the stock was too expensive. Then I was going to lay up some nice hardwood but lost my shop space. In the end I bought three (you probably only need two) white oak stair treds from home depot. Cost about $15 each. Nice, well glued layup. Cut them into trapzoids to fit the hatch and routed the edges to fit channels. Sand, paint with epoxy, and varnish. They look great and look a total of three hours over four days to do.Justin - O'day Owners' Web
